STAND UP IN THE PARK

Join us for a night of comedy and awareness, throwing a spotlight on the plight of the jailed UK-Iranian Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.The second “Naz Night” of comedy at Cardiff Open Air Theatre Festival on Sunday 24 June will feature an eclectic selection of superb comics from the professional circuit, compered once again by the outstanding Clint Edwards (2017 host).

Cardiff Amnesty International and the Cardiff Open Air Theatre Festival are also inviting you to share your favourite jokes. We are asking you to tweet your joke – or just something that makes you laugh or smile – on 24 June using the hashtags #ChooseLaughter and #FreeNazanin in support of Nazanin and her family.

ABOUT NAZANIN’S CASE

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a British-Iranian national who was arbitrarily arrested in Tehran on 3 April 2016 when returning to the UK from a family holiday with her young daughter Gabriella. Following an unfair trial conducted in secret, she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for unspecified national security crimes which has resulted in a serious deterioration of her mental and physical health. She remains in prison, separated from her now three-year-old daughter and her husband.

We will be announcing more information in the coming months so stay tuned! To get involved contact Owen at amnesty.cardiff@btinternet.com
