We are pleased to announce Amnesty’s first Wales conference in the beautiful seaside town of Aberystwyth. The day will include excellent speakers and panel discussions along with workshops on a range of human rights subjects.

 

  • The key note speech will be from Amnesty UK Director Kate Allen.
  • Other speakers will cover topics including, modern slavery, LGBTI issues, asylum seekers and refugees.
  • There will be a panel discussion on How we can Promote Activism in Wales and panellists will include activists from Freedom from Torture, Aberystwyth University Department of International Politics, Wales Youth Parliament and the Amnesty UK Vice Chair, Sharon Lovell.
  • There will be workshops on Human Rights Education in Wales, Climate Change and Amnesty’s key campaign, Write for Rights.
  • The Action Centre will have stalls and exhibits from other organisations and include artwork from Rohingya refugee children and representing the European refugee crisis.
  • We will highlight actions on the imprisonment of Nazanine Zaghari-Ratcliffe and on the Illegal Settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territories.
  • The day will be action-focused, not only updating attendees on human rights issues, but also giving them a clear path to furthering their own activism. It will bring activists together to share experiences and opportunities to plan working together in the future.

Everyone is welcome, including non-Amnesty members. The conference fee of £5 (plus booking fee) will contribute to the running of the conference and include tea and coffee on arrival and a finger buffet lunch. To register for the conference click here.

Our materials are suitable for persons aged 14 and over. Persons under 14 are welcome at the conference but must attend with an accompanying adult.

Mae’n bleser cyhoeddi Cynhadledd gyntaf Amnest Cymru yn nhref glan môr brydferth, Aberystwyth. Bydd y diwrnod yn cynnwys siaradwyr ysbrydoledig (fel Cyfarwyddwr Amnest Rhyngwladol DU, Kate Allen), ynghyd â thrafodaaethau panel a gweithdai ar amrywiaeth o bynciau hawliau dynol. Bydd Canolfan Gweithredu gyda stondinau ac arddangosfeydd gan sefydliadau eraill. Bydd y Gynhadledd yn ddwyieithog, Cymraeg / Saesneg.

Bydd y diwrnod yn canolbwyntio ar weithredu, nid yn unig ar ddiweddaru cynadleddwyr ar faterion hawliau dynol ond hefyd yn darparu llwybr clir ar gyfer datblygu’u gallu hwy i weithredu. Bydd y Gynhadledd yn dwyn ynghyd actifwyr i rannu profiadau a chyfleoedd i gynllunio cyd-weithio yn y dyfodol.
